Welcome to the Daonuts app docs. Here you'll find everything related to the Daonuts suite of apps. But first, how does Daonuts actually work?
Daonuts is a project to empower decentralized communities to decentralize their data. Currently we are building tools that allow Reddit communities to move their data (identities, karma, community roles) to Ethereum. This allows users to have control over the most important aspects of their communities (membership, voting, admin roles) while fully benefiting from all the features of Reddit (broad user base, content discover, intuitive user interface). It's the best of both worlds.
To do this we are using Aragon DAOs. Aragon is an Ethereum project that allows communities to create Decentralized Autonomous Organizations on the Ethereum blockchain. These organizations are completely transparent and allow any group of people to create and manage a community at scale without a centralized operator to hold the data. While this is not necessary for every use case, it's very useful for important (and potentially controversial) decisions. It's also great because by integrating with a platform like Ethereum, now all the possibilities of that platform are available to your community. Exchanging tokens and collectibles, dynamic voting mechanisms, magic internet money... it's all yours.
The apps in this section are just the tip of the iceberg. We've created a few features we think are important to get the ball rolling, but with Aragon DAOs we can add, remove, and enhance these apps anytime we want. As the community grows we imagine that more and more dynamic communities will emerge and create more an more interesting apps. For now though, we're going to explore the basic Daonuts apps that can help you get your community onto the Ethereum blockchain.
